Consideration is given to the non-LTE formation of the 1069.5-nm IR multiplet of neutral carbon observed in the spectrum of quiet regions on the solar disk. The departure coefficients of the multiplet's levels are obtained for a model atom with twenty levels. The non-LTE center-to-limb profiles and the equivalent widths of the lines are compared with results for the LTE case and with the observations of de Jager and Neven (1967).
