Various properties of the general theory of Einstein-Maxwell spaces with nonnull Maxwell fields are discussed. A classification scheme for fields in such spaces is proposed, and properties of such spaces in which the metric admits a Killing vector are examined. Attention is restricted to those spaces in which the electromagnetic-field tensor, the complexion tensor, the Killing vector, and the source vector are all nonnull. A solution is obtained in which a symmetry of the metric is not inherited by the electromagnetic field but the corresponding Killing vector is hypersurface orthogonal. The behavior of typical electric and magnetic vectors for the electromagnetic field in this solution, as measured by a particular observer, is analyzed.
