Continuous ejection models for extragalactic symmetric double radio sources are discussed, with emphasis on the twin-exhaust proposal of Blandford and Rees, since it accounts for the data reasonably well. Their steady-state model is refined through the introduction of parameters related to constraints imposed by the observations (optical, radio, and X-ray). We construct models for Cygnus A that have considerably more compact inner regions than those of Blandford and Rees, and we argue that our version may provide a more natural explanation of the alignment between inner and outer radio emission regions. Our models require a hotter, denser, confining gas housed within a galactic nucleus; the nucleus is assumed to supply the energy and plasma for the entire double source. Suggestions for further relevant observations are made.
