Pulsar radiation patterns are discussed with reference to the single-pulse structure of PRS 0329+54 at four frequencies between 1400 and 5000 MHz. Based on these data and the polar-cap sparking model it is suggested that the precession speeds of sparks and their mutual distances are often independent, the overall polar-cap structure and specifics of the sparking areas are frequency independent, and PSR 0329+54 exhibits behavior similar to PSRs 1237+25, 1919+21, and 2045-16. Consideration is given to the relevance of single-pulse observations for mapping the sparking area as opposed to random amplification levels, the mutual distance and overlapping of the sparking areas, the precession motion in magnetic and electric fields, and the significance of different types of frequency variations. It is noted that none of the currently available physical theories adequately accounts for the observational evidence.
