High-resolution observations of the 21-cm hydrogen line in the pair of galaxies NGC 4631/NGC 4656 reveal the presence of several filamentary features extending tens of kiloparsecs from these objects. The atomic hydrogen mass included in these features represents about one-eighth of the hydrogen mass of the whole system. Two of the most conspicuous features lie between NGC 4631 and NGC 4656 and are part of the H I 'bridge' connecting these objects and found by Roberts (1968). Both are attached to NGC 4631 and look very similar to the Magellanic Stream as concerns their basic parameters. The hydrogen layer of NGC 4631 shows a deviation from the plane of about 1-2 kpc at 15 kpc from the center. The velocity field derived in the paper has allowed one to estimate the total masses of NGC 4631 and NGC 4656 and to set stringent constraints on the mechanisms at the origin of the intergalactic features.
