Data resulting from a detailed photometric analysis of cloud images near the limb of Mars in prints taken by Mars-3 are discussed. The brightness profiles of several sections of the cloud image were measured in three filters. The relative measurements were converted to absolute values with respect to the theoretical spectral values of the brightness coefficient on the intensity equator. In all three parts of the spectrum the brightness of the cloud decreased sharply with altitude up to 20 to 30 km, after which the decline was more gradual. Throughout the height of the cloud the brightness in the red range was 3 to 4 times larger than that in the blue. It is suggested that the cloud consists of coarse particles.
