A survey of 32 galaxies, either classified as peculiar or having peculiar distributions of H II regions, is presented in order to ascertain the range of the peculiarities and the degree to which they are similar. Ten different types are recognized, several of which are interrelated. They include distortions of spiral patterns, bright diffuse emission, filaments, central core features, and spiral-arm anomalies of various sorts, and are probably caused by either gravitational or explosive disturbances of the galaxies.
