A series of synchroton spectra are computed which differ only in the value of the critical frequency and which can represent well the results of UBV observations of the optically variable nuclei of Seyfert galaxies NGC 4151 and NGC 1275. It is found that critical-frequency variation is caused by comparatively small variations in maximum electron energy. For NGC 4151, the magnetic-field intensity is estimated to be at least 0.06 G and the maximum electron energy is estimated to be no more than 170 GeV.
