Two very dark clouds in Ophiuchus and Taurus are almost exactly
symmetrical around the sun. A study of the color excess of nearby stars
confirms the idea of a thin elongated cloud linking the two symmetrical
regions. The orientation of this long cloud suggests an aligning
mechanism related to spiral density waves.
