Time delay interferometry (TDI) is a method for cancelling the dominant LISA instrumental noise - laser phase fluctuations - by appropriately time-shifting and adding frequency or phase data taken on optical links connecting pairs of optical benches. Here we review the principles of TDI and discuss some applications for LISA, including realistic simulations of system noise.
