The paper generalizes the problem of the natural oscillations of the boundary of the magnetospheric tail in a cylindrical coordinate system, taking into account plasma compressibility and flow in the solar wind and in the tail region. Also presented is an MHD generalization of Laplace's classical formula for surface pressure in Cartesian and cylindrical coordinate systems, making it possible to investigate the surface phenomena of conducting media by conventional hydrodynamic methods.
