Prominence equilibrium in a 2D geometry is considered in order to find the current distribution according to height. The problem is reduced to integral equations of a certain kind. Some solutions are presented, and their stability is analyzed. It is shown that the stable equilibrium in the 2D case is possible only for prominences of normal polarity near the saddle point of the external field. Equilibrium inside prominences of inverse polarity is impossible without the third component of the field.
