Fe X 6374 forbidden line (fl) and other lines of highly ionized species in Seyfert and related galaxies are discussed, emphasizing the ionization mechanism and kinematics of the Fe(9+) region. The good correlation of the intensities of Fe X 6374 fl and Fe XI 7892 fl with those of Fe VIII 6087 fl and O III 5007 fl substantiates photoionization as the mode of energy input for all these species. The ratios of Fe X fl, Fe XI fl, and Fe XIV fl can be modelled by collisional ionization in a gas ranging in temperature from 1.0 million to 1.5 million K. The radius of the Fe(9+) zone in NGC 4151 is independent of the mode of ionization and lies between .0001 and 0.5 pc, and its density is between 4 x 10 to the 4th and 6 x 10 to the 11th/cu cm. Fe X 6374 fl, Fe X 7892 fl, and O III 5007 fl are generally blueshifted with respect to systemic velocity of the galaxy, usually by about 120 km/s, and broader than lines from lower ionization species. It is proposed that these effects are due to higher outflow/inflow velocities closer to the central source and obscuration.
