The use of a linear silicon array in observing BVRI profiles of the globular clusters NGC 2808 and NGC 6388 is described. Color gradients and 'excess light' have been reported in the literature for the first cluster. The results show that at distances larger than some 10 arcsec from the nucleus, a single empirical King curve with a core radius 15.5 arcsec fits the BVR profiles of NGC 2808, while the infrared one seems slightly more concentrated. In the innermost region of this cluster, an unresolved image shifted toward the northeast by some 3-3.5 arcsec from the overall center of symmetry produces the peak of the light distribution. Once the effect of this red image is removed, a marginally detectable gradient of about -0.05 mag remains in the (V - I) color index over a range of 30 arcsec from the nucleus. On the other hand, NGC 6388 does not show any color gradient and its profiles can be fit with a core radius of 9 arcsec. However, the central region deviates from the King profiles in all color bands. The red objects near the center of NGC 2808 is compared with some similar ones found in other clusters and its nature is briefly analyzed.
