We present a study of the Southern Coalsack, based on ROSAT and FUSE data which strengthens our earlier hypothesis that the dark cloud is surrounded by hot gas. An almost full X-ray halo can be seen surrounding the cloud. A correlation between column density of O VI and 3/4 keV X-rays is also established. The X-ray geometry, together with our earlier results, based on the relative distances of the cloud and the FUSE target stars, clearly shows that the cold cloud and the hot plasma are associated.
