The Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS) was installed on the Hubble Space Telescope during the SM3B servicing mission in February 2002. The in-orbit verification of the camera performance (SMOV) was completed successfully in September 2002 and the instrument continues to perform very well. All ACS modes are operational and have been tested. In many areas the camera performs significantly better than the pre-launch specifications.
ACS observations make up 60 in cycle 11 and account for more than half of the cycle 12 proposals. As well as GO observations a considerable volume of observations taken so far form part of Treasury Programs or other public programs and hence the data are already available through the archives.
In this paper we describe the instrument status and summarize the current performance.
