We have made a careful study of all of the X-ray bursts observed with the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer Proportional Counter Array (RXTE / PCA) during the 1996 and 1997 outbursts of GRO J1744-28. We have parameterized the burst emission and the resulting phase delay of the pulsar in terms of several parameters in an attempt to study the nature of the interaction between the bursts and the pulsar. The exact nature of this interaction is still something of a puzzle but the study of the correlations between the various parameters which describe the burst emission and the behavior of the pulsar during and after the burst strongly limit possible explanations of this effect. Understanding this interaction must ultimately lead to a better understanding of the interaction between neutron stars and their accretion disks.
