We present a Monte-Carlo simulation of the color-magnitude distribution of four kinds of point sources in the color system of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS). We simulate (1) galactic stars, based on stellar population synthesis models and a model for the Galaxy; (2) quasars, based on the observed evolution of the quasar luminosity function and the statistical properties of quasar emission lines and absorption systems; (3) white dwarfs, based on the observed white dwarf luminosity and mass distribution and model white dwarf atmospheres; and (4) compact emission line galaxies, based on their luminosity function and emission line properties. This simulation can be used in the SDSS survey for establishing quasar selection criteria, calculating the quasar selection function and studying star counts and Galaxy models. We also compare our simulations with the observed colors of stars and quasars in the SDSS color system.
