Inadvertently, my Letter did not take notice of closely related work published by O. Steiner & A. Ferriz-Mas (ApJ, 653, L73 [2006]; ApJ, 653, L73 [2006]). These authors were the first to combine the equations representing the magnetic virial theorem and the conservation of total energy, and to apply them to the solar convection zone. Their emphasis, however, was on solar luminosity changes while mine was on solar radius changes, and different conclusions were drawn about the importance of the role of gravitational potential energy.
