An incorrect value of the K-band mass-to-light ratio, M/LK, was used to compute the stellar mass of M31. Using the correct value of 0.80 derived from the fits in Table 1 of Bell & de Jong (2001), and assuming K-[3.6]=0.3, the stellar mass implied by the extrapolated total magnitude ([3.6]=-0.34) is 1.1×1011 Msolar.
