For estimation of the possible water reserves on Mars, it is necessary to determine the area and depth borders of freezing. For that purpose, the morphological structures of fresh meteorite craters were analyzed by the photogeological method (photos from Vikings 1 and 2). The dependence of minimal crater diameter and of frozen soil depth on area latitude were studied. The diameters of these minimal craters and their morphological types were determined. The depth excavation was defined for all investigated craters. Quantitative estimates of the upper border of freezing on Mars were obtained for the first time
