The observations of classical Cepheids are reviewed. The main progress
that has been made is summarized and some of the problems yet to be
solved are discussed. The problems include color excesses, calibration
of color, duplicity, ultraviolet colors, temperature-color relations,
mass discrepancies, and radius determination.
