We present observations of the H125 alpha line that confirm earlier suggestions that the radio recombination-line emission from M82 at frequencies below approximately 10 GHz is mainly stimulated. However, consideration of both the radio and near-infrared hydrogen recombination-line data suggests that the radio line emission cannot be attributed only to the optically observed ionized gas in the nucleus of that galaxy. Considerably larger amounts of obscured ionized gas must be contributing, and it is shown that a model incorporating this view can fit satisfactorily most of the radio and near-infrared recombination-line data.
