It is shown that the presence or absence of a spiral in a sparse group is not correlated with the number of close companions it has. Nor do the numbers of companions correlate with the presence or absence of a bar in the central galaxy. However, spirals with many companions are found to be of systematically higher luminosity class than spirals with few companions. The presence of a central ring structure in the parent galaxy is weakly anticorrelated with the number of companions.
