We propose to observe the bright, HI-rich spiral galaxy NGC7531 and the peculiar LSB object AM2311.8-4353 with the ATCA in the 21-cm HI line and the 20-cm radio continuum. We will (1) search for HI emission from AM2311.8-4353 over a large velocity range to determine its distance and HI mass, (2) analyse the gas dynamics of both NGC7531 and the LSB object (if detected), and (3) investigate the origin of AM2311.8-4353 and its relation to NGC7531. We are not aware of any object similar to AM2311.8-4353 in the literature.
