We report the discovery of the optical counterpart to the new X- ray transient and suggested black hole candidate XTE J1752-223 (ATELs #2258, #2259, #2261). Our observations consist of three 180s i'-band images obtained with the 6.5m Magellan Baade telescope during 2009 Oct 26 00:02-00:18 UT using IMACS. The frames were acquired with an image quality of ~1.0" and conditions were not photometric.
