Temperature and density data are obtained for the coronal helmet streamer observed by the Yohkoh Soft X-ray Telescope (SXT) on Jan. 24, 1992. The SXT data are compared with the thermodynamic equilibrium model. Systematic pressure deviations from the thermodynamic equilibrium values at the top of the closed field region are found. A simple 3D geometrical model of the helmet taking into account the line--of--sight depth of the structure is proposed. This model explains the observed deviations from the thermodynamic equilibrium.
