Scientific paper

The paper discusses the hypothesis that the sun has a special position in the Galaxy: namely, that it is located near a corotation circle at which a density wave and the Galaxy rotate synchronously. Since the conditions of star formation at such corotation circles are exceptional, differing from those in other parts of the Galaxy, it is possible that the sun was formed in special conditions, which predetermined the specific character (i.e., the existence of planets, life, etc.) of the solar system. If this is the case, star systems like the solar system should evidently be sought near the corotation circles of our Galaxy and other galaxies.
