The process of accretion onto a neutron star in a system specifically including a WR component is discussed. It is shown that the process will take on characteristics that make the development of an X-ray pulsar in a WR binary unlikely. Three reasons why X-ray pulsars are not observed as companions to WR stars are given. The first has to do with the highly radial regime of accretion onto the neutron star, which derives from the high velocity of the stellar wind from the WR star; this enables a stable magnetosphere to form around the neutron star. The second involves the rapid spin of the neutron star, which is caused by the occurrence of a phase of supercritical transfer in the massive binary system. This is considered of signal importance in explaining the absence of X-ray pulsars accompanying WR stars. The third reason is the development of a geo-like magnetosphere around the neutron star, also because of the high stellar wind velocity.
