The periods of different modes of nonlinear oscillation for the case of a homogeneous gravitating sphere are compared. An ellipsoid of revolution undergoing alternate stretching and flattening along the vertical axis is considered, and the superposition of two pulsational oscillations serving to distend the sphere in two mutually orthogonal directions in the equatorial plane, but in antiphase, are addressed in a linear approximation. The results may be applicable to a variety of astrophysical processes, especially those occurring in pulsating stars.
