Solar Radio Bursts: Particle Acceleration, Solar Protons: Solar Flares
Scientific paper
According to the data analysis of recent observations of solar radio bursts recorded by ground-based radio telescopes and solar proton streams by spaceborne instruments, it is shown in this paper: (1) the occurrences of solar proton events (or proton flares) are closely associated with abruptly fluctuating strong type IVμ bursts (or microwave impulsive bursts) or strong short decimetric-wave bursts. (2) About 24% - 30% of the proton events occur without associated type II bursts. This paper also argues that both energetic electrons (±500 keV) which generate strong type IVμ bursts and energetic protons (>10 MeV) in proton flares are accelerated by the stochastic MHD turbulences in the same magnetic loop during the impulsive phase of solar flares.
