Arguments are given which show that the evidence for a hot gaseous halo
around the Large Magellanic Cloud is not at all conclusive. The
observations of interstellar lines in the UV, optical, and radio domain
are well represented by a kinematic model of the LMC with a warped,
two-layer structure.
