Observations of a galaxy with H-alpha in the near IR beyond 9000 A and a redshift of 0.37 obtained with the charge-coupled device and imaging photon-counting system of the spectrographs of the Anglo-Australian Observatory are analyzed. The need for high IR luminosities in order for the IRAS to detect the galaxy is discussed. The formation of massive stars is examined; particular attention is given to bipolar outflows, the H-II region, and the distortion of close pairs of galaxies (IC 4453 and NGC 6240) by gravitational interaction.
