In order to find and identify high-frequency radial oscillations in pulsating δ Scuti-type stars, it is suggested to use the information on variations in the equivalent width and radial velocity of spectral lines formed in the outer layers of atmospheres (e.g. Hα). From spectrograms rapid variability of the Hα line in τ Peg has been found; this is interpreted as manifestation of radial oscillations in the 3 and 5 overtones.
