In 1984, photographs from southerly observers have again enabled us to produce a comprehensive report. Almost the entire circumference of the STB and STropZ was dramatically affected by the South Tropical Dislocation, which also produced a short- lived South Tropical Disturbance p the GRS. These latitudes seemed to be reverting to normal late in the year. The STropZ was also distorted by intense activity on the retrograding jetstream and by a unique long-lived stationary white spot. Northern latitudes also showed considerable activity, including a jetstream outbreak in the NNTB(S).
