We analyze the long-term optical activity of the super-soft X-ray source V Sge using the O-C residuals of the well defined features in the light curve (maxima of high states or transitions between the states). We find that in the active segments, when the brightness varies by 1.0-1.5 mag (usually high/low states), cycles are often apparent but their length undergoes large, often gradual variations. Usually a mean cycle-length is characteristic for a given active segment but these cycle-lengths can largely differ for the individual segments. The mean lengths of the cycles are within 180 and 420 days. The implications for the accretion wind evolution (Hachisu & Kato 2003) are given: an increase of the mass outflow rate from the donor star is in plausible agreement with the observations.
