A high-latitude field containing M 101 has been studied with the standard RGU three-color photometric methods down to a limiting magnitude in G of 19.5 mag, and by evaluating the G-fractioned Two-Color diagrams, logarithmic space-density histograms have been derived for disk-main sequence and halo-main-sequence stars of different 1-mag intervals in MG, for main-sequence stars of different 1-mag intervals in MG, and for late-type giants. The best fit with predictions is found for the model of Gilmore and Wyse (1985), including the intermediate-population thick disk for all histograms. The resulting logarithmic luminosity-function is extrapolated to the MG range greater than 7.5 mag for determination of the luminosity range of the M-greater-than-8 stars.
