The factor by which the thermonuclear reaction rate is increased due to plasma screening effects is calculated in a degenerate weakly nonideal electron gas with an arbitrary degree of relativism and in a multicomponent strongly nonideal ion mixture. Consideration is given to screening with and without allowance for the electron gas compressibility. The results are valid for the degenerate cores of white dwarfs and the envelopes of neutron stars.
