A nova near the nucleus in M31 (1986 No. 32) has been observed spectroscopicallly approximately seven weeks after discovery. Narrow-emission lines principally of hydrogen and Fe II, were detected. The spectrum differs from that of previously observed M31 novae both in the width of the emission lines and in the steepness of the Balmer decrement. The spectral appearance and linewidths suggest that this was a very slow nova. The authors failed to detect a second nova (1986 No. 29) which apparently declined more rapidly.
