The correlation between the X-ray emission and the magnetic field in late-type stars is investigated, based on data primarily from the ROSAT PSPC observation. Four coronal models have been considered to fit the sample stars. A strong correlation between the coronal temperature and the magnetic field in single cool stars is found. The authors interpret the result as a magnetic heating process.
