The 35-day cycle of the compact X-ray emitting star Her X-1 was investigated using EXOSAT observations. The pulse form of Her X-1 in the energy range between 1 and 30 keV was determined with high statistical significance, and the change of the pulse profile during the cycle was described. The observations of the free precession (nutation) of Her X-1 within a half precession cycle allowed to determine the precession geometry for the neutron star. The evaluation of observations in the soft spectrum of Her X-1 provided clarifications concerning the extended reprocessing regions at the magnetopause of the neutron star.
