Recent progress in observational and theoretical research of BL Lac objects is collected. The authors review some developments in observations. Theories and models for BL Lac objects are summarized, especially the accretion disk model, the beaming model, and the criteria used for discrimination between these models on the basis of variability time-scale being discussed in more details. The cosmological implication of BL Lac objects is presented.
