Gravitation Theory: Tests, Galaxies: Rotation Curves, Galaxies: Mass-To-Light Ratios

Scientific paper

The rotation curves of 13 galaxies are chosen to determine the two cosmological constants afresh. The authors find that they deviate from the values Moffat has originally found. However, if one discards Moffat's hypothesis that the mass-to-light ratios (M/LB) is 3, being a constant for all galaxies, and adjust the values of the two universal constants r0, L0, theoretical calculation based on the nonsymmetric gravitational theory (NGT) fits well the rotation curves. Further, the authors find that the adjustment leads to a consequence in agreement with the traditional finding: M/LB is getting smaller along the Hubble morphological sequence. Hence one may say that NGT is a success in this regard.
