The structure of the oblique bow shock is investigated on the basis of simulation with a 2.5-D hybrid code. It is demonstrated that a standing whistler is formed on the shock front; the wavelength of the whistler is c/omega(pi) and is comparable with the thickness of the shock ramp. The magnetoacoustic mode at the base of the wave is comparable in intensity with the Alfven mode. The shock profile pulsates with a characteristic period of approximately omega(ci) exp -1.
