The solar fine structure investigation is discussed. Observations with a few hundredths arcsec resolution, i.e., 10 to 15 km on the Sun surface, are necessary. Inaccessible directly, such very high resolutions require interferometry. However, the design of a solar interferometer is intrinsically complex since many requirements, often found separately, and difficult by themselves, are brought together, i.e., UV spectral range, limb observations, resolved structures (low contrast) and time resolution. The stabilized interferometry technique, applied to a nonredundant array of four telescopes, provides an elegant solution to the problems. Implementation of the instrument on the space station should be possible in view of its compactness and internal metrology.
