Hardware research and development activities in ESA's Technological Research Program relating to lightweight mirrors are described. These include programs aimed at demonstrating the technology of imaging quality semipassive normal incidence mirrors of up to 4 m in diameter, and developing a replication technique for large scale production of grazing incidence mirrors. Manufacturing capabilities in passive lightweight mirrors are reviewed.
