It is shown that, in considering the global magnetic field of the Sun approximately as dipole, the variation of the angle between the rotation axis of the Sun and the dipole axis can be explained by the introduction of the dipole rotation hypothesis. The determined value of the magnetic fields mean velocity for such rotation appears to coincide approximately with the observed value. The dipole rotation hypothesis can also account for coronal configurations, polar magnetic fields sign change and other periodical phenomena. Also, under dipole rotation conditions, the connection between large-scale fields and active region (sunspot) fields (in accordance with Ol's effect) leads to the explanation of Spörer's law.
