The properties of Seyfert galaxies (SyG) and Seyfert-like galaxies as a metagalactic population are discussed. The mass of the central bodies and the mass of gas in the zone of radiation of the [O III] 4959+5007 lines for nine Seyfert-like galaxies are estimated. The typical value of the central body mass is M = 3×106M_sun; for these galaxies. On the basis of the observational data on the IR-radiation and abundance of gas in SyG, the hypothesis that evolutionary transition of SyG1 to SyG2 exists is proposed.
