The inverse problem of constructing the vertical profile of the volume mixture ratio of a minor gaseous component from observations of the outgoing thermal radiation in the absorption band of this component is formulated starting from a general formulation obtained by the author. An analytical expression is derived for the kernel of the corresponding linearized inverse problem. A numerical experiment demonstrating the workability of the formulated inverse problem was performed.
