Information on optical variability of quasi-stellar objects (QSOs) is collected and analyzed in order to determine the effect of variability on the data which have been utilized in various statistical arguments. It is found that photometric observations of QSOs are uncertain due to short-term variability by amounts up to .25 to .50 minute of arc, with less than 10% of the QSOs being so variable that single measurements differ by 0.5 minute of arc.
